Innovative Summer Jobs Programme to Tackle Youth Violence in Sheffield

Sheffield Futures is partnering with UK Youth to deliver The Summer Jobs Programme in Sheffield.

Running from July to September 2025, the six-week paid programme aims to combat the barriers that many young people face in gaining employment by offering paid work experience to young people aged 16 to 20. It is specifically designed to reduce the risk of youth violence by providing structured opportunities that empower young people and build brighter futures. The programme will run in North East, Yorkshire, South Wales, Greater Manchester, West Midlands and London.

Kirsty Sandamas, Communications and Business Development Manager at Sheffield Futures says: “We are delighted to be bringing this programme to Sheffield, following the successful trial across Greater Manchester, West Midlands, and London last year. Young people in Sheffield need opportunities for paid work experience to foster personal growth, positive engagement, and career development. We are particularly passionate about the programme’s aims of reducing the risk of youth violence, an issue close to many of our hearts.”

About The Summer Jobs Programme

The programme is part of a study funded by the Youth Endowment Fund, Youth Futures Foundation and DCMS, and delivered by UK Youth and Local Delivery Partners, and evaluated by IFF Research. The Summer Jobs Programme aims to build evidence on the best ways to support the most vulnerable young people in our country by keeping them safe and improving their future involvement in education, training, and employment. Last year, the programme successfully engaged 500 young people, and this year the programme is expanding and running as a Randomised Control Trial.

If you’re an employer and want to get involved in this exciting new programme, check out the Employer Pack and express your interest by 17th March.
